Lonza acquired arabinogalactan business assets from Larex Inc. -- a manufacturer of the nutritional compound Larch Arabinogalactan (“LAG”), a natural soluble fiber extracted from harvested Larch trees. LAG is extracted and purified through a patented process to deliver functionally optimized products sold into the health science, consumer and industrial markets.

Lonza acquired the divisions of Research Bioproducts and Microbial Biopharmaceuticals from the Cambrex Corporation for US $460 million. In conjunction with the planned Initial Public Offering of Polynt S.p.A., these acquisitions were intended to accelerate the Group’s strategic development and transform Lonza into a focused Life Science business.

Lonza acquired a mid-scale biomanufacturing facility in Porriño, Spain (“Lonza Biologics Porriño, S.L.”), and builds a second large-scale biomanufacturing facility in Singapore.
